This book contained 157 scientific papers, each of which was accompanied by a variety of equations, graphs, photographs and electron micrographs, and is a companion volume to the proceedings which we produced for the previous conference in 1997.

The authors said in the acknowledgements: “We are extremely grateful […] to Chris Reed and Amanda Thompson at BBR for their efficiency and dedication in ensuring that the papers were all successfully typeset and bound in time for the conference.”
