It's with mixed feelings that I announce immediate closure of UNHINGED. Producing this magazine has been a terrific experience for me, and I'll be eternally grateful to the writers, artists and buyers who made it all possible. To each and everyone of you, my sincere thanks for all your support.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. That UNHINGED should be nominated for the 2000 British Fantasy Society 'Best Small Press' Award was an achievement way beyond my expectations when I initially started working on the first issue - over two years ago. I honestly can't see the magazine progressing much further without me spending even more time and money on it, and while I could theoretically continue to churn out more of the same I prefer to quit now before staleness and boredom set in. Subscribers will of course be compensated for any issues still outstanding. I realise that closing the magazine will be particularly hard on those writers who are still waiting to see their stories published, and to them I can only offer my sincere apologies. It's a risk one takes with any small press magazine and unfortunately it happens quite often - as anyone who contributes to them regularly will know!

The start of the New Year is an appropriate time for me to take stock and see what the future may have in store. Certainly I have writing ambitions which I fully intend to pursue. I'm also giving serious consideration to re-launching UNHINGED as a webzine, though before rushing into anything I'll take a break from publishing and attend to other outstanding matters first. In the meantime, I'll continue to display on the website what I consider to be some of the best that UNHINHED has to offer.

Once again, I apologise for any disappointment caused and trust that my explanation will be acceptable to all concerned.

Many thanks.

Paul Lockey - Editor, UNHINGED.

I would like to invite you to drop by my author homepage and get to know a little about my multipublished speculative fiction work. There are synopses, reviews and excerpts plus interviews and information on upcoming horror, sci-fi/futuristic, sword & sorcery, dark fantasy and psych thriller novels.
