Writers and reviewers needed

A new international magazine of original writing in Dark Speculative Fantasy seeks writers, reviewers, and artists for its maiden issue. 'The Future Fire' will appear online, at http://futurefire.net and is free; we cannot at this point pay cash for submissions, but contributors will receive a large share of kudos.

'The Future Fire' will contain fiction in the SF/F/H and experimental genres, non-fiction articles in speculative science and supernatural topics, reviews, interviews, and academic standard papers on literature and media studies. Please contact the editors to suggest a title or offer work: see the website for more information and submission details.

We look forward to receiving your submissions and/or suggestions.

Please circulate this message as widely as possible.

All best,

Gibril <Webmaster@FutureFire.net> <http://futurefire.net>

DAVID MURPHY has a new collection of short stories out, Lost Notes, published in February 2004 by Aeon Press, Dublin. These are, according to the back cover blurbs:
“Sixteen tales of alternate Irelands, alternate worlds, gathered together in a sophisticated and startlingly diverse collection told at hypnotic pace. They are the stories of a cynical yet mysteriously naïve voice, the voice of the outsider who remains incredulous when confronted with the absurdities of life.”
"David Murphy is one of the most exciting writers exploring the boundaries of the modern short story in Ireland today." Robert Neilson.
"It's a rare talent who can show us a glimpse of what Ireland is and what it could become. David Murphy doesn't believe in glimpses. He shows it all, every subtle distinction, every smell, every shade. You will remember this book." Roelof Goudriaan
