March 2000 Messages

As of April 11th 2000, I am proud and a little nervous to announce, that my e-serial novel The Sufferer's Song will be distributed freely across the world. It has picked up extensive coverage in Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Greece, USA and China. The fact that the eyes of the world are watching is mildly trepidatious but what the hell. Enjoy, right?

If you want to read an excerpt, find out more about me, about the story, or simply subscribe swing by the url and take a shufty around. Thanks for listening. Steve Savile

If you are an author struggling to publish a book you may find an answer
on a new
Internet site which has been set up in North Wales.
Designed as a gateway for new writers with un-published work,
www.e-booksonline.net was launched in January by David Watson and Arthur

Wainwright in an attempt to attract readers to the work of new
up-and-coming
authors. So far several of them from around the world are displaying
their books on
the site.
Readers can either simply download a book by e-mail at a small cost (£3)
or have
it sent to them either on a 3.5" floppy disk or as a printed copy for
£5.
>From the comfort of your own home you can browse through the
user-friendly book
list, read the synopses and simply click on your choice. If there is
nothing that
interests you a further click transfers you to the W.H.Smith's Bookshop
site with
its 1.4 million titles on offer.
Any questions you may have are answered on the site's helpful Q & A
page.
During the first 4 weeks over 800 people visited the site and browsed
the variety
of books available... and bought. From fantasy, to whodunits, to
adventure and to
thrillers. But... David and Arthur would like to see an even wider
choice
available for both adults and children.
"We hope the site will offer a service not only to readers but also
authors who
have possibly had their manuscripts rejected by mainline publishers in
the past.
The only criteria is that the material is not in any way offensive in a
religious,
ethnic or obscene manner." Said Mr Watson. " Authors receive a
percentage of their
sales on a monthly basis and do not have to pay anything to exhibit
their work on
the site as our company pays all the setting up costs."
If you feel you have a good read to show to the world contact...
e-booksonline (uk) ltd either by e-mail to quillusers@cs.com or by fax
to
01758760602. On the other hand, if you are looking for the next
page-turning book
visit www.e-booksonline.net and browse.

As of March 7th, the Ministry of Whimsy website
(www.mindspring.com/~toones/ministry.html) has entered a new phase in its
development. Short-term, the major changes are as follows:
(1) The addition of an entire novel, METRO by Jeff Edmunds. In the Metro
section of the website, you can use the Commentary message board to tell us
what you thought of the book, and of the electronic format. We invite you to
read and comment on the novel.
(2) The consolidation of our fiction and nonfiction into a section entitled
(NON)FICTION, with two new stories and a novel excerpt from author Daniel
Pearlman.
(3) The inclusion of News on our START page, for easy access, and the
consolidation of links in a new LINKS section.

In the long term, website expert Garry Nurrish will be maintaining and expanding our site. Garry has been designing web sites for a number of years. He now specializes in author, small press & publisher websites and has created The Official D.F. Lewis site, RedHedz : The website of Mike Philbin & Hertzan Chimera, The Sufferer's Song (an e-serial novel by Steve Savile), and will soon be starting work on Jeff VanderMeer's official website.New reviews and interviews will be added on a quarterly basis. To receive further updates, please email ministryofwhimsy@hotmail.com with the word "Subscribe" in the subject line.
