If you've survived living below the neighbours from hell then you may be interested in my new dark novel Noise Abatement which goes on sale this week. For further details please see the Noise Abatement page of my site. The novel is my most autobiographical and the reality damn near killed me but at least I had fun killing off the bastards vicariously in print. Read it and weep.

The book really surprised me....

Rarely do I read a book that winds up being such a big surprise to me, but I got finished reading D.M. Brown's new book, "Cover to Cover," and it surprised me.

I was surprised at how good this book was given that I knew this was the author's first book. Her writing style is fluid, comprehensive, and genuine...she reads like creamy butter on your tongue. Delicious!

I was surprised at how intrigued I was by the story. I opened up the book one afternoon and didn't put it down again until late that evening. The story captured my attention immediately, and literally, it was very difficult to part with. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I kept getting to the end of a chapter with a promise that this would be the last time...but found that I just couldn't stop....had to keep going just a little bit longer. For me, that is rare.

I was surprised by my inability to solve the mystery. Mystery fiction is my favorite and rarely am I unable to figure out the puzzle in the book. But the author had me going all the way until the very last page. When I got to the end of the book, I was really surprised...and pleasantly surprised at that.

Pleasantly surprised because...and this is my last comment about the book....the book was very rich. You get to the end of it, and you realize that the story was more than just fiction...It was about what my life is like. It was about being a woman. It was about fighting for what is important to me. It was about the truth. As it says on the back of the book, ""Cover to Cover" ...is about courage, honor, and responsibility" and that sums it up nicely.

Surprisingly, I haven't bumped into many people who have discovered this book yet. So I am trying to let other women know about it especially because I'm pretty sure that D.M. Brown is a self-published author, and I like to support writers, women in particular, who have accomplished this sort of feat. So, read the book and let yourself experience one of life's little surprises. I know that the book is available at most of the on-line bookstores and there's a web site for the book at www.123readme.com.
