Contest #1

THE ACORN-RUKEYSER CHAPBOOK CONTEST

First Prize: publication and $100 (US)
Runner-Up: $100 (US)
Rules
Poems may be published or unpublished.
The entry fee is £5/$10 US/$12 CDN. Payment by cheque or money order payable to Mekler & Deahl, Publishers.
An entry will be a poetry manuscript of up to thirty pages.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable.
Manuscripts must be typed or word-processed.
The authorās name should not appear on the manuscript. The authorās name and address and the title of the manuscript should appear on a separate sheet.
Copyright remains with the author.
All entries will be returned after the winning chapbook is published.
All entrants will receive a copy of the winning chapbook.
The author of the winning manuscript will receive fifty copies of the chapbook.
The winning author and the runner-up will each receive a cash prize of $100 (US).
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by September 30, 1999.
Winner will be notified in spring, 2000.

THE SANDBURG-LIVESAY ANTHOLOGY CONTEST

RULES
Poems may be published or unpublished.
Poems may be any length up to 70 lines.
The entry fee is £6/$12 US/$15 CDN. Payment by cheque or money order, payable to Mekler & Deahl, Publishers.
Up to 10 poems may be submitted per entry fee.
All entries must be typed or word-processed.
The authorās name should not appear on the poems. The authorās name and a list of poems submitted should appear on a separate sheet.
Copyright remains with the author.
Poems will be judged individually; more than one poem by a single author may be accepted for publication.
All entrants will receive a copy of the anthology ÷ an $18 value.
Entrants with poetry in the anthology will receive one additional copy.
The poem judged to be the best in the anthology will be awarded $200 (US); the first runner-up will be awarded $100 (US) and the second runner up $50 (US).
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 1999.
Winners will be notified in spring, 2000.

for short poetry in the haiku tradition

RULES
Poems must be no more than 4 lines long. They may or may not follow the traditional 17-syllable form, but should be in the haiku tradition.
Poems may be published or unpublished.
The entry fee is £5/$10 US/$12 CDN. Payment by cheque or money order, payable to Mekler & Deahl, Publishers.
Up to 10 poems may be submitted per entry fee.
Manuscripts must be typed or word-processed, one poem per page, on letter-size paper, with no identifying marks. Name, address, and phone number, with titles or first lines, should be on a separate sheet of paper.
All entrants will receive one copy of the anthology.
Entrants with poetry in the anthology will receive one additional copy.
